When Flying Feels Like Falling is a Chicago-based political punk band. We stand for unity and equality. We sing about topics ranging from feminism, solidarity among artists, class war, roller derby, and revolution. All four of us come from different musical backgrounds such as Riot Grrrl, Jazz, Punk, and Reggae but our music sounds like a mix of Star Fucking Hipsters, Bomb! The Music Industry, The Distillers, and We Are the Union.
We have played with bands such as Reagan Youth, the Unseen, Mischief Brew, Math the Band, We are the Union, Last False Hope, Sean Bonnette from Andrew Jackson Jihad, and Into it. Over it. We have played many legendary Chicago venues such as The Metro, Reggies, the Hideout, Schuba’s, Lincoln Hall, Martyrs, the Mutiny, Fireside Bowl, and the Empty Bottle in addition to other great venues around the Midwest. We also love playing DIY house shows and working with organizations such as DIYCHI, Occupy Chicago Rebel Arts Collective, Queerfest America, and Girls Rock Chicago.
